Isaac Pettiford, Assault of a Federal Employee, West Virginia 2023

Clarksville is reeling after a shocking assault case came to light today, as Isaac Pettiford, 40, was convicted and sentenced to 10 months for forcibly assaulting a registered nurse at United States Penitentiary Hazelton.

The crime occurred in December 2015, when Pettiford physically attacked a registered nurse while she was engaged in her duties. Today, he pled guilty to one count of ‘Assault of a Federal Employee’.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew R. Cogar successfully prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Federal Bureau of Prisons Special Investigations Services Unit led the investigation.

U.S. District Judge Irene M. Keeley presided over the trial, handing down the sentence.
