Jacob Harding-Abeyta, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, California 2020
A 28-year-old Vallejo man has been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, a federal crime with serious consequences.
Jacob Harding-Abeyta, a resident of Vallejo, California, was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, announced Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert.
On October 7, 2020, a parole search of Harding-Abeyta’s residence resulted in the discovery of a loaded .45-caliber Springfield XDS firearm in his bedroom.
Harding-Abeyta is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition because he has prior felony convictions in Solano County for attempted murder in 2014 and vehicle theft in 2011.
The case is the product of an investigation by the Solano County Sheriff’s Office, the Solano County District Attorney’s Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the FBI’s Solano County Violent Crimes Task Force.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jason Hitt and Adrian T. Kinsella are prosecuting the case.
If convicted, Harding-Abeyta faces a maximum statutory penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Harding-Abeyta is currently presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
