South Sioux City Man Found Guilty of Methamphetamine Charges
In a major blow to the methamphetamine trade in Nebraska, Jacob W. Deng, 33, was found guilty of Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine, Distribution of Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Marijuana, and being a Convicted Felon in Possession of a Firearm. The verdict was handed down by a United States District Court jury after a two and a half day trial.
A United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg announced the guilty verdict, stating that the evidence presented at trial revealed Deng’s involvement in the methamphetamine trade. On April 17, 2014, DEA Task Force Officers executed a search warrant on Deng’s South Sioux City apartment and discovered approximately two ounces of crystal methamphetamine, multiple ounces of marijuana, drug packaging materials, over $7,000 in cash, and two firearms.
The investigation revealed that Deng was a convicted felon and had previously delivered methamphetamine to a cooperating witness. This case was the result of an investigation by the South Sioux City Police Department and DEA Tri-State Drug Task Force.
According to sources close to the investigation, Deng’s involvement in the methamphetamine trade was extensive. He was found to have been involved in the distribution of the highly addictive substance, and his arrest is a significant blow to the trade in Nebraska.
