Manchester Man Charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm

In a shocking turn of events, a Manchester man has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition. Jafet Centeno, 23, of Manchester, was indicted by a federal grand jury on Monday and charged with these serious crimes.

According to the original complaint filed in court, Centeno initially was charged by complaint and brought into custody last week. He is currently detained pending trial.

The complaint alleges that on April 1, 2021, officers executed a state search warrant at Centeno’s residence. During the search, officers seized a loaded firearm and ammunition. The complaint alleged that Centeno is prohibited from possessing a firearm due to previous felony convictions in 2017.

The charges in the indictment are only allegations, and the defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Manchester Police Department.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Krasinski. It remains to be seen what the outcome of this case will be, but one thing is certain – Centeno’s actions have put him in a precarious situation.
