Jahson Feverie, Murder, New York 2016
Jahson Feverie, 18, a member of the 'Wild Card' set of the Crips gang, has been charged with murder in connection with the September 27, 2016, killing of 21-year-old Yunior Manion in the Bronx, New York.
According to the indictment, Feverie fired a gun at rival gang members, hitting and killing Manion, an innocent bystander.
U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman praised the investigative work of the FBI and the NYPD, saying, 'As alleged, the defendant was a member of a violent gang who killed an innocent young man in a pointless, gang-related dispute.'
FBI Assistant Director William F. Sweeney Jr. added, 'No one deserves to be killed at the hands of someone else, but Yunior Manion was innocently standing on the street and got caught in a gang war crossfire.'
The NYPD Commissioner James P. O'Neill stated, 'The individual arrested in this case allegedly took the life of an innocent bystander while recklessly discharging a firearm at a rival gang member.'
Feverie was arrested this morning in the Bronx, New York, and presented and arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge Barbara C. Moses. He is charged with conspiring to commit racketeering through the commission of various criminal acts, including murder, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1962(d), which carries a maximum term of life in prison.
The maximum potential sentence in this case is prescribed by Congress and is provided here for informational purposes only, as any sentencing of the defendant will be determined by the judge.
The prosecution of this case is being handled by the Office's Violent and Organized Crime Unit. Assistant United States Attorneys Adam Hobson, Gina Castellano, and Hagan Scotten are in charge of the prosecution.
The charges contained in the indictment are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
