Glenns Ferry Man Sentenced for Distributing Meth
BOISE – In a harsh blow to the methamphetamine trade, Jaime Guerrero, 27, of Glenns Ferry, Idaho, was sentenced to 53 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, announced U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson.
Guerrero, a resident of Glenns Ferry, Idaho, pleaded guilty to the charge on November 27, 2012. U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge also ordered him to serve five years of supervised release, 80 hours of community service and pay a $100 special assessment.
The case began on September 14, 2011, when co-defendant Raul Garcia-Rosales, of Mountain Home, Idaho, received approximately one pound of methamphetamine from Guerrero in Elmore County, Idaho. Garcia-Rosales then distributed the methamphetamine to an undercover officer at a truck stop in Mountain Home.
According to plea agreements filed in the case, Guerrero admitted to supplying the methamphetamine to Garcia-Rosales. Both men acknowledged that the substance they were distributing was indeed methamphetamine.
The joint investigation that led to Guerrero's sentencing involved the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF). The OCDETF program is a federal multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional task force that provides supplemental federal funding to federal and state agencies involved in the identification, investigation, and prosecution of major drug trafficking organizations.
Other agencies involved in the investigation included the Idaho State Police, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), and the U.S. Marshals Service.
Co-defendant Raul Garcia-Rosales, of Mountain Home, Idaho, was sentenced on June 4, 2013, to 21 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.
Garcia-Rosales received approximately one pound of methamphetamine from Guerrero and then distributed it to an undercover officer.
