James King, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Iowa 2022
A Sioux City man has been sentenced to more than a year in federal prison after being found with a loaded handgun during an argument.
James King, 44, was sentenced on June 22, 2022, to 16 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
The conviction stems from an incident on August 1, 2020, when King was found to be secretly armed with a loaded handgun while arguing with another individual. King fell into a window during the altercation, injuring himself, and Sioux City Fire/Rescue responded to the scene.

King's sentence also includes a 3-year term of supervised release following his prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.
King is currently being held in the United States Marshal's custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
The case was investigated by the DEA and the Sioux City Police Department, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Forde Fairchild.
According to court documents, King's case file number is 21-CR-4050 and can be found at https://ecf.iand.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/login.pl.
