James M. Moody, Child Pornography Distribution, New York 2017
SYRACUSE, NEW YORK - A shocking crime has shaken the city of Oswego, as James M. Moody, 42, has been found guilty of distributing, receiving, and possessing child pornography.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Moody admitted to distributing images of child pornography through a Peer-to-Peer file sharing program.
On October 23, 2015, investigators searched Moody's residence, recovering hundreds of images and numerous videos depicting child pornography.
Moody is currently being held in custody pending his sentencing on January 26, 2017, in Utica, New York. He faces a minimum of five years and a maximum of twenty years in prison on each of the distribution and receipt counts, and up to twenty years for possession.
The sentence is subject to the discretion of the court and may be concurrent or consecutive. Moody will also be required to register as a sex offender and serve a term of supervised release between five years and life.
The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Geoffrey J. L. Brown.
