Baton Rouge Man Charged with Possession of Child Pornography

A Bill of Information was filed charging James S. Burland, age 69, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, with possession of child pornography.

According to the Bill of Information, between on or about November 11, 2022, and April 9, 2023, Burland did knowingly possess material that contained images of child pornography involving prepubescent minors who had not attained 12 years of age.

The matter was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Homeland Security Investigations and the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation, Office of the Attorney General, and is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Paul L. Pugliese.

A Bill of Information is an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent until and unless adjudicated guilty.
