Local Tax Preparer Pleads Guilty to Tax Evasion
St. Louis, MO - James T. Mahoney, a local tax preparer, has pleaded guilty to failing to file tax returns, leaving his neighbors and coworkers wondering if they can trust their tax dollars are being used fairly.
Mahoney, an accountant since 1987, earned a substantial income between 2007 and 2009, totaling over $180,000.
As a result of his income, Mahoney owed a total tax of more than $180,000 but instead of paying his taxes, he admitted to purposely failing to file income tax returns for those years.
