Jamie Allen Butcher, Aiding and Abetting Possession of a Stolen Firearm, West Virginia 2019

ELKINS, WEST VIRGINIA – A local man has been sentenced to 65 months incarceration for a firearms charge, U.S. Attorney Bill Powell announced.

Jamie Allen Butcher, a 48-year-old man from Shinnston, West Virginia, was found guilty of aiding and abetting possession of a stolen firearm.

Butcher pleaded guilty to one count of 'Aiding and Abetting Possession of a Stolen Firearm' in October 2019. He admitted to having a stolen .45 caliber pistol in June 2018 in Lewis County.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brandon S. Flower. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the West Virginia State Police, and the Weston Police Department investigated.

The sentencing was presided over by U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh.

Butcher's sentence is a result of his guilty plea, which was accepted in October 2019. He will serve 65 months in prison for his crime.

This case serves as a reminder of the importance of gun safety and the consequences of breaking the law.
