Assaulting a Federal Officer Lands Woman in Prison
A Rosebud, South Dakota woman has been sentenced to time served in custody and supervised release for assaulting a federal officer on the Rosebud Indian Reservation.
According to court documents, Jamie Leader Charge, 32, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Eric C. Shulte on August 11, 2025.
Leader Charge was convicted of Assaulting, Resisting, and Impeding a Federal Officer following an incident on November 5, 2024, in St. Francis, South Dakota.
A Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services (RSTLES) officer responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence and found Leader Charge, who had an active tribal arrest warrant. The officer placed her under arrest, but Leader Charge resisted and kicked the officer.
The case was investigated by Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Service, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Albertson prosecuting the case.
Leader Charge was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service and has since served approximately four months in federal prison. She was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund as part of her sentence.
Leader Charge will serve three years of supervised release following her time in prison. The total sentence was a result of an indictment by a federal grand jury in December 2024 and a guilty plea on May 12, 2025.
