Jamiek Moore, Multi-State Drug and Gun Violations, Pennsylvania 2019
PITTSBURGH – In a shocking turn of events, a juryless trial resulted in the conviction of Jamiek Moore, a 23-year-old Pittsburgh resident, on multiple counts of federal narcotics and firearms charges.
According to the evidence presented at the trial, Moore was found guilty of conspiracy to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and two counts of possessing firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
The investigation, led by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Pittsburgh Police Department, and the Penn Hills Police Department, uncovered a stash of heroin, large quantities of heroin packaging materials, approximately $28,000 in U.S. Currency, and two loaded firearms at a residence and vehicle used by Moore and his co-defendant, Jaimere Dehonney, located on Yosemite Drive in Penn Hills, Allegheny County.
On May 15, 2017, Moore was also found to have possessed quantities of marijuana and heroin with the intent to distribute them, as well as two loaded firearms, at a residence on Rhine Court.
The evidence presented at trial established that on or about June 8, 2017, Moore conspired with Dehonney and others to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a quantity of heroin, and that he possessed firearms on that day in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Judge Reggie B. Walton scheduled sentencing for November 22, 2019, at 2 p.m. The law provides for a total sentence of not less than 10 years to a maximum of life in prison, a fine not to exceed $2,750,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed is based on the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Moore's conviction serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of drug trafficking and the importance of law enforcement's efforts to combat this scourge. As the investigation and prosecution of Moore demonstrate, the authorities will leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice.
