Janssen Rodriguez Velez, Drug Trafficking, Pennsylvania 2024

HARRISBURG - A 27-year-old Mifflintown man has been indicted on drug trafficking and firearms charges, federal authorities announced yesterday.

Janssen Rodriguez Velez, 27, was charged by a federal grand jury with conspiring to distribute, and possess with the intent to distribute, cocaine between February 10 and 29, 2024, in Mifflin, Pennsylvania.

The indictment also alleges that Rodriguez Velez possessed a Taurus G3 9mm Luger pistol during and in relation to his drug trafficking activities, according to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam.

The case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) and the Pennsylvania State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney David C. Williams is prosecuting the case.

The maximum penalty under federal law for these offenses is lifetime imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine.

A sentence following a finding of guilt is imposed by the Judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

Mifflintown is a borough located in Juniata County, Pennsylvania, with a population of approximately 2,000 residents.

According to the indictment, Rodriguez Velez is accused of engaging in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine in the Mifflin area, which is a rural community in central Pennsylvania.

The exact charges against Rodriguez Velez are conspiracy to distribute cocaine, in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 846, and possession of a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking crime, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 924(c)(1)(A)(i).
