Jarod Nicely, Armed Methamphetamine Trafficking, Kentucky 2025

A Wellington, Ky., man, Jarod Nicely, 39, has been sentenced to 276 months in prison for his role in armed methamphetamine trafficking in the state of Kentucky.

Nicely was stopped by law enforcement on February 24, 2025, for suspected traffic violations along Interstate 75. When questioned about his travels, Nicely claimed he was driving to see friends in Cincinnati but initially stated he did not know their last names or where they lived.

During a search of Nicely's vehicle, authorities found $12,246 in cash bound by rubber bands in his wallet. Additionally, approximately 94 grams of methamphetamine were discovered hidden in the center console of the vehicle. A stolen firearm was also found during the search.

Nicely admitted to possessing the methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it and stated that he possessed the firearm in furtherance of his drug trafficking activities. The investigation was conducted jointly by the DEA and Boone County Sheriff's Office.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joel King on behalf of the United States. The sentencing was announced by Jason Parman, First Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, Jim Scott, Special Agent in Charge, DEA, Louisville Field Division, and Sheriff Les Hill, Boone County Sheriff's Office.
