Florida Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Methamphetamine Distribution

Orlando, Florida – U.S. District Judge Wendy W. Berger has handed down a stiff sentence to a Cocoa man for his role in distributing methamphetamine in the community.

Jason Alan Scruggs, 53, was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine, a charge to which he pleaded guilty on April 19, 2022.

According to court documents, Scruggs sold methamphetamine to a confidential informant on two occasions in 2021. The transactions took place at a residence associated with Scruggs in Cocoa, and on one occasion, the methamphetamine sold by Scruggs was determined to be 99% pure.

Scruggs had multiple prior convictions for drug offenses at the time of the offenses, which made his actions even more egregious. The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cocoa Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorney Terry B. Livanos handling the prosecution.
