Jason Allen Martinez, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Arizona 2018
A Parker man was sentenced to 77 months in prison for a violent assault that left his former partner shaken.
On August 21, 2017, Jason Allen Martinez, 37, of Parker, Arizona, chased down the victim in his vehicle, crashing into the rear end of her vehicle before continuing to pursue her and try to force her off the road.
The assault occurred on the Colorado River Indian Tribes Indian Reservation, and the victim is also a member of the Colorado River Indian Tribes.
Martinez was arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, a serious crime that carries significant prison time. He pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge David G. Campbell to 77 months in prison, followed by a term of three years of supervised release.
Additionally, Martinez was sentenced to four months' imprisonment in a 2010 supervised release matter, which will run consecutive to the sentence imposed in the 2017 case. This is because Martinez had previously admitted to violating his supervised release.
The investigation in this case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Colorado River Indian Tribes Police Department, with the prosecution handled by Christina J. Reid-Moore, Assistant U.S. Attorney, District of Arizona, Phoenix.
Martinez's sentence serves as a warning to those who would engage in violent behavior, and it is a testament to the commitment of law enforcement and prosecutors to ensuring public safety.
The case number for this matter is CR-2017-01509-PHX-DGC, and the release number is 2018-098_Martinez.
