10-Year Prison Sentence for Kansas City Man in Iowa Meth Conspiracy

A Kansas City man has been sentenced to over 10 years in federal prison for his role in a massive methamphetamine conspiracy in Iowa.

Jason Clark, 47, was found guilty of conspiring to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine and was sentenced to 128 months' imprisonment by United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand in Sioux City.

Clark was involved in a distribution conspiracy that included more than 50 grams of methamphetamine. On May 18, 2019, law enforcement conducted a traffic stop on Clark in Woodbury County, Iowa, and seized roughly a half-pound of methamphetamine from his vehicle.

The evidence at the hearing showed that Clark had a loaded handgun magazine in the vehicle and a knife in his pocket. He was also found to have a significant amount of methamphetamine in his possession.

The case was prosecuted by Special Assistant United States Attorney Patrick T. Greenwood and investigated by the Tri-State Drug Task Force, which consists of law enforcement personnel from the Drug Enforcement Administration, Sioux City Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, Woodbury County Sheriff's Office, South Sioux City Police Department, Nebraska State Patrol, Iowa National Guard, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, United States Marshals Service, and South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation.

Clark must also serve a 5-year term of supervised release after his prison term. He is currently being held in the United States Marshal's custody until he can be transported to a federal prison. There is no parole in the federal system.
