Jason M. Nobles, Armed Bank Robbery, Massachusetts 2019
A Lowell man pleaded guilty yesterday in federal court in Boston to a masked and armed bank robbery.
Jason M. Nobles, 37, pleaded guilty to one count of armed bank robbery.
The crime occurred on February 26, 2018, at a branch of the Santander Bank in Swansea, where Nobles brandished what appeared to be a black semi-automatic pistol and demanded cash from the tellers.
Nobles stole approximately $15,000 during the robbery, which was determined through a post-robbery audit.
After fleeing the bank, Nobles was stopped and detained by law enforcement in a gray Toyota SUV, which was later found to contain a large sum of money and a black Sig Sauer semi-automatic pellet gun.
The charge against Nobles provides for a sentence of no greater than 25 years in prison and five years of supervised release.
Nobles is currently in federal custody, with sentencing scheduled for May 7, 2019.
United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling, Joseph R. Bonavolonta, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Boston Field Office, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn, Swansea Police Chief George Arruda, and Rehoboth Police Chief James J. Trombetta made the announcement.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kenneth G. Shine of Lelling's Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
