Mail Thief Caught in the Act

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Four individuals have been charged with stealing mail from blue postal collection boxes in central Arkansas. The suspects, Javion Trevon Dozier, 19, Gilpre Flowers, 23, and Jamoun Young, 23, all of North Little Rock, were arrested in the early morning hours on Monday, May 27, 2024, after law enforcement conducted numerous sting operations at post office locations.

The investigation, which began last spring, has resulted in over 700 reported victims of mail theft and forgery. The U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Little Rock Police Department received complaints from individuals and businesses in the central Arkansas area.

Javion Trevon Dozier, 19, was charged with conspiring to steal mail and theft of mail, carrying statutory penalties of not more than five years imprisonment. The fine for the charges is not more than $250,000 and not more than three years of supervised release.

“The arrests in this case demonstrate the commitment of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service to ensure the public’s trust in the Postal Service, its brand, and the U.S. mail,” said Thomas Noyes, Inspector in Charge, Fort Worth Division.

United States Attorney Jonathan D. Ross stated that stealing United States mail is a federal crime and will be prosecuted accordingly. He advised the public to take steps to ensure safe delivery of their mail, such as taking it into the post office, depositing it before the last posted collection time, and not using blue boxes on weekends or federal holidays.

Javion Trevon Dozier, along with the other two suspects, had their initial appearance before United States Magistrate Judge Edie R. Ervin on Wednesday afternoon. A fourth suspect remains at large.

The case is being investigated by the United States Secret Service, the United States Postal Inspection Service, Arkansas State Police, and the Little Rock Police Department.

A criminal complaint only contains allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
