Armed Robbery Ring Busted in Miami Gardens, Florida. Two men, Javon Antwan Lee and Kimani Mario Brown, have been arrested and charged in connection with a string of armed robberies in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Lee, 18, and Brown, 18, both of Miami Gardens, Florida, allegedly engaged in a conspiracy to lure victims of internet-based classified advertisement services to an abandoned house and then rob them at gunpoint. According to court records, the duo, together with other unknown individuals, committed multiple armed robberies beginning as early as February of 2016 and continuing through June of 2016.

The victims, who were responding to advertisements for the sale of smartphones or other electronic devices, would arrange to meet the sellers in Miami Gardens. However, upon arrival, they were attacked at gunpoint by three to four men at a time. The FBI and the Miami Gardens Police Department are cautioning all users of internet-based classified advertisement services to be cautious when purchasing items from individuals they do not know.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin Widlanski. United States Attorney Wifredo A. Ferrer commended the investigative efforts of the FBI and the Miami Gardens Police Department.

Lee and Brown were charged by complaint with conspiracy to commit Hobbs Act robberies, Hobbs Act robberies, and brandishing firearms in furtherance of crimes of violence. A complaint is only an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
