Jay R. Jahn, Receipt of Child Pornography, Iowa 2019

Council Bluffs, Iowa - In a shocking case of child exploitation, Jay R. Jahn, 27, has been sentenced to five years in prison for receipt of child pornography.

According to court documents, the investigation began in July 2017 when the La Plata County Sheriff in Colorado received a referral regarding a 15-year-old child who had received sexually explicit messages online from Jahn.

A search warrant was obtained for Jahn's residence, where officers located a computer and cell phone. A search of the electronic devices revealed images and videos of child pornography.

Jahn pleaded guilty to the charge in May 2019.

The case was investigated by the La Plata County Sheriff's Office, Carter Lake Police, and Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Department. The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa prosecuted the case.

Jahn is set to serve five years in prison, followed by a five-year term of supervised release. The case highlights the growing concern of child exploitation and the importance of community vigilance in preventing such crimes.
