Jean Paul Jimenez-Kuchler, Child Pornography/Immigration Offenses, Illinois 2014
A resident of Panama, who was living illegally in the United States, was sentenced for child pornography and immigration offenses in Illinois.
According to authorities, Jean Paul Jimenez-Kuchler, 30, a citizen of Panama City, Panama, was convicted of Receipt of Visual Depictions of Minors Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct, Possession of Visual Depictions of Minors Engaged in Sexually Explicit Conduct, and Possession of a Counterfeit Alien Registration Card.
The investigation began on June 6, 2013, when a federal search warrant was executed at Jimenez-Kuchler’s residence in Glen Carbon, Illinois. Agents seized two hard drives from Jimenez-Kuchler’s bedroom, which contained videos and images of minors engaged in sexually explicit behavior.
Jimenez-Kuchler admitted that the hard drives belonged to him and that he was a citizen of Panama who was present in the United States illegally. He also admitted accessing a child pornography bulletin board and possessing a counterfeit alien registration card.
The court sentenced Jimenez-Kuchler to 84 months in federal prison on each count, to be served concurrently. He was also ordered to pay a $300 fine and a $300 special assessment. Upon his release from prison, Jimenez-Kuchler will be deported to Panama.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
The case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, and was assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Angela Scott.
