On October 7, 2020, the United States Department of Justice filed a federal indictment against Jeffrey Davis, a resident of Maryland, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. Davis was charged with multiple counts of violent crime, including kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon. As reported by the Baltimore Sun on October 8, 2020, the indictment alleged that Davis, a 35-year-old man, had allegedly kidnapped a 28-year-old woman and assaulted her with a firearm in a residential area of Baltimore City.
