Jeffrey Paden, Possession of Child Pornography, New York 2024

BUFFALO, N.Y. - A Buffalo man pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, a federal crime that carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum of 20 years, along with a $250,000 fine.

Jeffrey Paden, 57, of Kennedy, NY, entered his plea before Chief U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford. The guilty plea stems from a search warrant executed by the New York State Police on August 29, 2023, at Paden's residence, which was based on information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

During the search, several electronic devices were seized, including a thumb drive and a laptop computer. Approximately 83 images of child pornography were stored on the thumb drive and approximately 468 images on the laptop computer. Some of the images depicted prepubescent minors, and violence against children.

This is not the first time Paden has been convicted of a federal crime related to child pornography. In June 2015, he was convicted on a federal charge of possession of child pornography and sentenced to serve 57 months in prison and five years' supervised release.

The plea is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia, the New York State Police, under the direction of Major Stanley Edwards III, and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Paden's sentencing is scheduled for November 13, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. before Judge Wolford. The federal crime of possession of child pornography carries a mandatory minimum penalty of 10 years in prison and a maximum of 20 years, along with a $250,000 fine.
