Jeffrey Paul Jandreau, Failure to Register, South Dakota 2020

A federal grand jury in South Dakota has indicted a man for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

Jeffrey Paul Jandreau, age 41, was indicted on March 9, 2020 for knowingly failing to register and update his registration as required by law.

The Indictment alleges that between December 15, 2019 and February 22, 2020, Jandreau, a person required to register under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, knowingly failed to register and update his registration as required by law.

The maximum penalty upon conviction is up to 10 years in federal prison and/or a $250,000 fine, up to life of supervised release, and $100 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund. Restitution may also be ordered.

Jandreau was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service pending trial. A trial date has not been set. He appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mark A. Moreno on March 11, 2020 and pled not guilty to the Indictment.

The United States Attorney Ron Parsons announced the indictment. The investigation is being conducted by the United States Marshals Service. Assistant U.S. Attorney Troy R. Morley is prosecuting the case.

The charge is merely an accusation and Jandreau is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
