Jeffrey Scott Beimel, Child Pornography, Pennsylvania 2019

A St. Marys, Pennsylvania man has admitted to possessing child pornography, federal authorities announced today.

Jeffrey Scott Beimel, 30, pleaded guilty to one count of violating federal laws relating to the sexual exploitation of children in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

According to court documents, Beimel possessed computer images depicting minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

The court scheduled sentencing for January 2, 2019. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed will be based upon the seriousness of the offense and Beimel's prior criminal history, if any.

The law provides for a total sentence of 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police conducted the investigation that led to Beimel's prosecution.

Pending sentencing, Beimel has been continued on bond.

Assistant United States Attorney Christian A. Trabold is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
