Local Man Guilty of Child Pornography

Jeffrey Scott, a 52-year-old from South Bend, Indiana, has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, a felony offense. According to court documents, Scott was investigated by members of the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Indiana State Police.

The case, which began with a probe into Scott’s online activities, revealed a cache of child pornography on his computer. Scott’s guilty plea was accepted by Magistrate Judge Christopher Nuechterlein, who recommended that the district court accept the tendered plea. Sentencing has been set for May 19, 2013.

Assistant United States Attorney John Maciejczyk is prosecuting the case, which is a result of an investigation by the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Scott’s guilty plea is just the latest in a string of high-profile cases brought by the United States Attorney’s Office in South Bend. In recent weeks, several other defendants have been sentenced for various crimes, including robbery and the production of child pornography.
