Jeffrey West, Heroin Possession, New York 2018

A brazen heroin operation has been brought to a grinding halt, thanks to the tireless efforts of the Monroe County Heroin Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Jeffrey West, 42, of Greece, NY, was sentenced to serve 188 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci, Jr. for his role in a heroin trafficking ring.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Cassie Kocher, West's downfall began on April 19, 2018, when members of the Monroe County Heroin Task Force executed a search warrant at his home. During the search, officers located a quantity of heroin packaged for sale and a loaded .22 caliber handgun and ammunition.

The discovery was the result of a long-term investigation by the Monroe County Heroin Task Force, under the direction of Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge John B. Devito, New York Field Division.

The sentencing is a significant blow to the heroin trade in Greece, and a testament to the dedication of law enforcement agencies in the region.

West was convicted of possession with intent to distribute heroin. The sentence handed down by Judge Geraci is a stark reminder of the consequences of involvement in the heroin trade.
