Published October 18, 2017

A disturbing case of child exploitation has come to light in Alabama, where a Shelby County woman has been sentenced to over two decades in prison for producing child pornography.

Jennifer Lynne Galloway, 34, was sentenced to 24 years and six months in prison by U.S. District Court Judge R. David Proctor on June 2023, for producing child pornography of an eight-year-old relative in 2015.

The horrific crime came to light after Galloway sent the explicit photos to a man she met online, identified as Cory Haynes, who was later revealed to be Trussville resident Brian Wayne Ray, 55.

Ray pleaded guilty on October 11, 2023, to one count of distributing child pornography between March 9, 2016, and March 15, 2016, using the internet and an email account. He also pleaded guilty to one count of possessing child pornography between February 14, 2016, and July 5, 2016, in Jefferson County.

The FBI investigated the case, which Assistant U.S. Attorney Erica Williamson Barnes is prosecuting. Ray is scheduled for sentencing on January 23, 2024, and faces between five and 20 years in prison.

The case highlights the importance of vigilance and cooperation in preventing child exploitation. As the investigation unfolds, it is clear that the consequences of such heinous crimes can be severe and long-lasting.

Galloway's sentence serves as a reminder that those who commit such crimes will be held accountable for their actions.
