Jeremy Allen, Reception and Possession of Child Pornography, New York 2014

A 41-year-old Niskayuna, New York man has pleaded guilty to receiving and possessing child pornography.

Jeremy Allen, 41, of Niskayuna, New York, pleaded guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography, announced United States Attorney Richard S. Hartunian and Andrew W. Vale, Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Allen faces at least 5 years and up to 20 years in prison, as well as a term of supervised release of at least 5 years and up to life. He also faces a maximum fine of $250,000 and mandatory registration as a sex offender.

As part of his guilty plea, Allen admitted that between November 29, 2013 and July 8, 2014, he knowingly received child pornography and that on July 8, 2014, he possessed child pornography involving prepubescent children and children younger than 12.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Colonie Police Department, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Emily T. Farber and former Special Assistant United States Attorney Amanda W. Cox.

The case was prosecuted as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys' Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.

Jeremy Allen will be sentenced in Albany on January 14, 2016 by United States District Judge Gary L. Sharpe.
