Violent Felon Charged with Federal Firearm Offenses in Indianapolis

A 43-year-old Indianapolis man, Jeremy Bullock, is facing federal charges for violating firearms laws. According to the United States Attorney's Office, Southern District of Indiana, Bullock has been charged with possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon and possession of an unregistered firearm.

The charges stem from a July 1, 2020 search warrant executed at 3134 East Sumner Avenue, Indianapolis, where investigators found a handgun, sawed-off shotgun, semi-automatic rifle, ammunition, suspected marijuana, and narcotic paraphernalia.

Bullock has a history of violent behavior, including murder, carjacking, burglary, resisting law enforcement, and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon. He faces up to life imprisonment, 5 years of supervised release, and a maximum fine of $250,000 if convicted.

United States Attorney Josh J. Minkler announced the charges, praising the work of the Crime Gun Intelligence Center and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department in investigating the case. 'This is exactly the type of crime and arrest that Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) is designed for,' Minkler said. 'Making neighborhoods safer by focusing law enforcement resources on the most violent in society.'

The investigation began in January 2020, after the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department received several calls about gunshots being fired in the area of 3134 East Sumner Avenue. Officers and special agents from the Crime Gun Intelligence Center executed a search warrant, and Bullock was among two individuals found at the residence.

A charge is not evidence of guilt, and Bullock is presumed innocent until proven otherwise in federal court. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Brady.

According to the United States Attorney's Office, Southern District of Indiana, the Strategic Plan aims to target, investigate, and prosecute defendants committing violent crimes in the district. This case demonstrates the office's commitment to making neighborhoods safer.
