Buffalo Man Pleads Guilty to Machine Gun Charge
In a shocking turn of events, Jeremy Hinman, a 26-year-old Buffalo man, has pleaded guilty to possessing and transferring a machinegun, a charge that carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
According to sources, Hinman was arrested on April 27, 2023, after an individual working with law enforcement met with him to purchase a firearm and a 'Glock switch,' also known as a machine gun conversion device. Hinman gave the individual a Glock 43x handgun and a conversion device in exchange for $1,400. Hinman explained the operation of the conversion device, specifically stating which actions would make a firearm operate in a semiautomatic versus automatic manner.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeffrey E. Intravatola, who has been instrumental in bringing Hinman to justice. The plea is the result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, and Tobacco and Explosives, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Bryan DiGirolamo.
Hinman's guilty plea is a major blow to the city of Buffalo, which has seen its fair share of gun violence in recent years. The plea also sends a strong message to would-be gun traffickers that they will be held accountable for their actions.
