Jermel Rush, 8 Armed Robberies, Missouri 2022

Published November 17, 2025

A man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for a string of armed robberies in St. Louis, Missouri.

U.S. District Judge Audrey G. Fleissig handed down the sentence to Jermel Rush, 43, of St. Louis, on Monday for seven counts of robbery, one count of attempted robbery, and one count of use of a firearm during a crime of violence.

Rush pleaded guilty in June to the charges, which stem from eight separate robberies and attempted robberies that took place between June 2018 and November 2018.

The most recent robbery occurred on November 15, 2018, when Rush robbed a retail store in the 3100 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive at gunpoint, making off with cash, Christmas lights, and dish towels.

When St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department officers arrested Rush, they found a .40 caliber handgun that matched the description of the gun used in the final three robberies.

Rush also had a history of using Airsoft guns that resembled handguns to commit robberies, including the first robbery on June 21, 2018, at a retail store in the 4400 block of Natural Bridge Road.

As part of his plea agreement, Rush admitted to using the Airsoft guns to rob or attempt to rob seven different stores and businesses in St. Louis.

Rush was ordered to repay $4,237 to the businesses that he robbed.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Torrie J. Schneider prosecuted the case.
