Jesse Brewer, Jewelers Store Robbery, Pennsylvania 2012
HARRISBURG - A New York man has been convicted of interfering with commerce by robbery and using a firearm during the commission of a crime of violence after a three-day jury trial in Harrisburg.
Jesse Brewer, 40, of Jamaica, New York was found guilty of his role in the July 12, 2012 robbery at White Jewelers in York, PA. Brewer and two accomplices, Jamell Smallwood and Timothy Forbes, made off with over 50 Rolex watches valued at over $500,000.
During the heist, Brewer shot the store owner, severely injuring him. Smallwood of Allentown, Pennsylvania pleaded guilty previously and was sentenced to 17 years in prison for his role in the robbery. Forbes of Allentown, Pennsylvania pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.
Brewer's accomplices were involved in the robbery, but it was Brewer who fired the shots, severely injuring the store owner.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the York Area Regional Police Department, with assistance from the Allentown and New York Police Departments. Assistant United States Attorney Meredith A. Taylor prosecuted the case.
Brewer faces a maximum sentence of lifetime imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine. The statutory maximum penalty for the offense is not an accurate indicator of the potential sentence for a specific defendant.
No sentencing date has been set for Brewer.
