Jesse S. Dittmar, Fentanyl Distribution, Washington 2020
Seattle - A deadly game of cat and mouse has ended in tragedy for one Seattle woman. Jesse S. Dittmar, a 35-year-old Pennsylvania man, has been arrested and charged with distributing fentanyl and acetyl fentanyl to the Western District of Washington, announced U.S. Attorney Brian T. Moran in a press release.
The U.S. Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) investigated the case with assistance from the Seattle Police Department and Seattle Fire Department. According to the criminal complaint, the victim, a 32-year-old woman, broke up with Dittmar in the fall of 2018 and moved to her brother’s home in Seattle. However, the two continued to communicate, and Dittmar allegedly sent multiple envelopes containing fentanyl and acetyl fentanyl to the victim.
A tragic twist of fate led to the woman's death. The victim texted Dittmar on January 28, 2019, stating she had ingested some of the drugs he had sent her, which proved fatal. The King County Medical Examiner determined the victim died from acute drug intoxication, including fentanyl.
On January 14, 2020, Dittmar appeared in U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and will eventually face charges in the Western District of Washington. Distribution of fentanyl is punishable by up to twenty years in prison.
The charges contained in the criminal complaint are only allegations. A person is presumed innocent unless and until he or she is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lyndsie Schmalz. It remains to be seen how this case will unfold, but one thing is certain - the devastating consequences of fentanyl distribution.
