Local Man Arrested and Charged with Child Exploitation Offenses

A Danville, Virginia man has been arrested and charged with multiple child exploitation offenses, including the production of child sexual abuse material, sexual enticement of minors, cyberstalking, and making threats to injure reputation with intent to extort.

Jesus Diaz, 25, of Danville, was arrested on April 16, 2026 in New Mexico, after a federal grand jury in Roanoke charged him with 12 felony charges related to child exploitation.

The indictment, returned on April 9, 2026, alleges that Diaz used social media platforms to meet and solicit nude pictures from minor females, including a 17-year-old female from Idaho who reported being extorted for sexually explicit images and videos.

According to the indictment and other court documents, Diaz allegedly threatened to broadcast the victim's previous images if she stopped communicating with him or refused to send more images.

HSI agents determined that Diaz's phone contained references to social media accounts used to harass and threaten the victim, and that his devices contained nude and sexually explicit pictures of at least 24 other minor females.

Diaz is scheduled to make his initial court appearance in the Western District of Virginia on May 15, 2026.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Lee Brett as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse.
