Joaquin Carrillo, Cocaine Distribution, Massachusetts 2013
BOSTON, MA - In a shocking turn of events, Joaquin Carrillo, a/k/a Chito, 31, has been convicted of conspiring to distribute cocaine in Western Massachusetts.
The crime, which spanned a period of 10 months, saw Carrillo import over five kilograms of cocaine into the United States between July 31, 2010 and May 2, 2011.
Pleading guilty before U.S. District Judge Michael A. Ponsor, Carrillo now faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 5, 2013.
This conviction is a major blow to the local narcotics trade, and is a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies in the region.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin O'Regan of Ortiz's Springfield Office.
Co-defendant Pablo Drullard pleaded guilty on February 15, 2013 and is scheduled to be sentenced on May 13, 2013.
The United States Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts, in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration Boston Field Division and the Federal Bureau of Investigation Boston Field Division, made the announcement today.
