John Campbell, Oxycodone Conspiracy, Massachusetts 2023

BOSTON — A Taunton man has pleaded guilty to his role in an oxycodone conspiracy.

John Campbell, age 41, pleaded guilty in federal court in Boston to conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute oxycodone pills. U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper scheduled sentencing for January 15, 2025.

Campbell was indicted by a federal grand jury in August 2023. Between approximately July 2022 and June 2023, Campbell distributed oxycodone pills to others for further re-distribution. He also obtained oxycodone pills from his co-conspirator and co-defendant Kenneth Veiga.

The quantities of oxycodone pills distributed ranged from hundreds to more than 1,000 on several occasions. Campbell also distributed oxycodone pills to an undercover agent on four occasions. Laboratory testing of pills seized as part of the conspiracy confirmed that the pills contained oxycodone.

Veiga pleaded guilty and in July 2024, was sentenced to 60 months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release. Campbell faces a maximum of 20 years in prison, at least three years and up to life of supervised release and a fine of up to $1 million.
