Buffalo Man Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography
BUFFALO, N.Y.
— A 27-year-old man from Buffalo has pleaded guilty to charges related to the receipt of child pornography, a crime that carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.
John Luchetti, 27, pleaded guilty to the charge before U.S. Judge Richard J. Arcara on September 6, 2013.
According to court documents, Luchetti received and distributed images and videos of child pornography through an Internet file sharing program. He possessed over 600 images of child pornography on his laptop computer, which included images of prepubescent minors and acts of violence.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the government. Led by United States Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
The plea is the result of an investigation by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge James C. Spero.
Luchetti faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 for his crimes.
