John Raymond, Violent Home Invasion, Maine 2016

A Stratton man was sentenced to 4 years in prison for his role in a violent home invasion in Rangeley, Maine.

On July 28, 2016, John Raymond, 36, drove two co-conspirators to a Rangeley residence, where they planned to steal controlled substances. However, things took a deadly turn when the intended target of the robbery shot and killed one of the co-conspirators. Raymond fled the scene, but was later stopped by police officers while driving another co-conspirator to a bus station.

Raymond was charged with his role in the violent home invasion, which resulted in the death of one of the co-conspirators. He was sentenced to 48 months imprisonment to be followed by three years of supervised release by U.S. District Judge Nancy Torresen.

According to court records, Raymond's co-conspirators, Andre Muller (aka “Dre Muller”), 53, and Robert Holland (aka “Kurt Holland”), 44, both of New York, were convicted in a jury trial in November 2023 and are awaiting sentencing. Another co-conspirator, Hector Munoz, 56, of Florida, pleaded guilty and was sentenced on January 12, 2024 to 54 months imprisonment.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Maine State Police, Rangeley Police Department, U.S. Border Patrol, and Carrabassett Valley Police Department all contributed to the investigation, with assistance provided by the Maine Office of the Attorney General.

Raymond's sentence brings an end to a long and complex investigation into the violent home invasion. The case serves as a reminder of the dangers of violent crime and the importance of law enforcement's role in keeping communities safe.
