Drug Kingpin Sentenced to Prison Time

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – A local man has been sentenced to prison time for his role in selling methamphetamine in the area.

Johnnie Lee Harris, also known as "Jay," 42, was sentenced to 12 months and one day of incarceration for his crime. This follows his guilty plea in October 2020 to one count of "Aiding and Abetting the Distribution of Methamphetamine within 1000 Feet of Protected Location," according to United States Attorney William Ihlenfeld.

Harris admitted to selling methamphetamine near River Towers in Wheeling in September 2019. His actions put the community at risk and he will now face the consequences of his actions.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Shawn M. Adkins prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Ohio Valley Drug Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated Harris's activities and helped bring him to justice.
