On January 31, 2018, Jonathan Kissell, a resident of Vermont, faced trial in the United States District Court for the District of Vermont for his involvement in a violent crime. The defendant, a 35-year-old male, stood accused of committing a heinous act that sent shockwaves throughout the community. Kissell was charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon, a felony offense that carries a maximum sentence of ten years in prison.
