Jordan Wimberly and Ryan Carter, Murder, Ohio 2015

CINCINNATI - In a shocking turn of events, two Cincinnati men have been charged in a 2015 cold-case murder. On January 29, 2015, Lerois Harris was brutally murdered during a robbery, leaving his family and friends reeling with grief.

The two men, Jordan Wimberly, 32, and Ryan Carter, 28, are accused of using a firearm to commit the murder. This heinous crime has left the community shaken, and the families of the victims seeking justice.

Wimberly was transferred into federal custody from state incarceration on March 12, 2021. On March 18, 2021, U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephanie K. Bowman ordered him detained pending trial. Carter, on the other hand, was arrested yesterday and appeared in federal court at 1:30pm today.

The charges against Wimberly and Carter are severe, with a conviction carrying a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and punishable by up to life in prison or the death penalty.

Assistant United States Attorneys Ashley N. Brucato and Julie D. Garcia are representing the United States in this case. The charges were announced by Vipal J. Patel, Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio; Roland Herndon, Special Agent in Charge, U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF); and Cincinnati Police Chief Eliot K. Isaac.

It is essential to note that an indictment is merely an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

The families of the victims are seeking justice, and the community is looking forward to seeing the perpetrators brought to justice. The case is a stark reminder that justice can be delayed, but it is never denied.
