In a federal case that shocked the community, Jorge Patino, a 32-year-old resident of Los Angeles, was accused of multiple violent crimes. The case, known as the Patino case, was filed on March 8, 2017, in the Central District of California. Patino was charged with multiple counts of assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, and robbery, all of which were allegedly committed in 2016.

The investigation into Patino's activities began in the summer of 2016, when several victims came forward claiming that they had been attacked and robbed by a person matching Patino's description. The authorities launched a thorough investigation, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. On March 8, 2017, the FBI arrested Patino on multiple federal charges.

The trial, which lasted several months, saw the prosecution present a wealth of evidence against Patino, including eyewitness testimony and physical evidence collected from the crime scenes. On September 22, 2018, the jury delivered a guilty verdict, finding Patino guilty on all counts.
