Jose Carlos Vides-Torres, Reentry of Removed Aliens, Pennsylvania 2025

In a crackdown on immigration offenders, a Salvadoran national has been sentenced for reentry of removed aliens in Pennsylvania.

According to an investigation by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), Jose Carlos Vides-Torres, a 46-year-old native of El Salvador, was discovered on September 10, 2022, in Bradford County after being arrested by the Pennsylvania State Police for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Vides-Torres has a history of removal from the United States, having been previously removed in 2008 and twice in 2011. Despite this, he did not seek or obtain permission to reenter the country.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Luisa Honora Berti. U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced the sentence.

On February 7, 2025, United States District Court Chief Judge Matthew W. Brann sentenced Vides-Torres to time-served for one count of reentry of removed aliens.

The sentence underscores the severe consequences of violating immigration laws. Reentry of removed aliens is a serious offense that can lead to severe penalties, including imprisonment and deportation.
