Jose Cerillo-Cerillo, Illegally Reentering the US, Iowa 2020
A Cedar Rapids man has been sentenced to 111 days in prison for illegally reentering the United States, despite being deported twice.
Jose Cerillo-Cerillo, 31, a citizen of Guatemala, used a fictitious Social Security number and a fraudulent permanent resident card when he completed employment and tax forms at a business in Cedar Rapids in June 2018.
Cerillo-Cerillo falsely claimed to be a lawful permanent resident of the United States on his employment application, but was previously deported from the US in October 2012 and January 2013.
Cerillo-Cerillo was arrested on March 4, 2020, by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers during the execution of a search warrant as part of an investigation of document fraud in Cedar Rapids.
Cerillo-Cerillo was sentenced to 111 days' imprisonment and must also serve a one-year term of supervised release after the prison term.
Cerillo-Cerillo is being held in the United States Marshal's custody until he can be turned over to immigration officials.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Daniel C. Tvedt and investigated by Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Enforcement and Removal Operations.
