A 31-year-old Honduran national has been sentenced to six months in prison for reentering the United States after being deported.

Jose Deciderio Alvarado-Carzoza, a citizen of Honduras, was sentenced on Thursday, June 14, after pleading guilty to a one-count indictment charging him with illegal reentry of a removed alien after deportation, in violation of Title 8, United States Code, Section 1326(a).

The indictment alleged that Alvarado-Carzoza was found to have reentered the United States on February 26, 2018, after being deported on January 8, 2011.

U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans praised the work of the United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Spiro Latsis is in charge of the prosecution.

Alvarado-Carzoza was ordered to pay a $100 special assessment fee. He will be surrendered to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for removal proceedings.
