Jose Guerrero-Soto and Yokasta Aybar-Soto Indicted for Fentanyl Distribution

BOSTON – Two Dominican nationals have been charged with distributing fentanyl in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Jose Guerrero-Soto, 25, and Yokasta Aybar-Soto, 26, both of the Dominican Republic, were indicted on distribution of and possession with intent to distribute 40 grams or more of fentanyl, as well as on conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute 40 grams of more of fentanyl.

The indictments allege that Guerrero-Soto and Aybar-Soto sold over 40 grams of fentanyl to an undercover officer in Lawrence on September 12, 2019.

The charging statutes provide for a mandatory minimum sentence of five years and up to 40 years in prison, at least four years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $5 million.

Guerrero-Soto and Aybar-Soto were initially charged by criminal complaint and have been in custody since September 12, 2019.

Assistant U.S. Attorney James R. Drabick of Andrew Lelling's Criminal Division is prosecuting the case.

The details contained in the charging documents are allegations. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
