Joseph A. Heath, Jr., Receipt of Child Pornography, New York 2023
Rochester, NY - A shocking case of child exploitation has come to an end with a harsh sentence for a 46-year-old man. Joseph A. Heath, Jr., a resident of Rochester, was convicted of receipt of child pornography and has been sentenced to serve 16 years in prison.
The investigation began when authorities encountered Heath at a laundromat on Monroe Avenue in Rochester on February 4, 2018. Upon further inspection, a laptop computer was seized containing approximately 80 videos containing child pornography.
This disturbing discovery led to Heath's prosecution for the receipt of child pornography. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Melissa Marangola, who emphasized the severity of the crime and the need for justice to be served.
Heath's past conviction for the sexual abuse of a 6-year-old girl only serves to exacerbate the severity of this crime. The fact that he continued to engage in such heinous behavior despite his prior conviction is a testament to the need for stricter laws and harsher punishments.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Child Exploitation Task Force, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Gary Loeffert.
